ASOBISYSTEM CO., LTD and JTB Hawaii Travel, LLC are pleased to announce the launch of a specially wrapped vehicle, “ASOBIEXPRESS”, on the popular sightseeing trolley bus service HiBus, serving Waikiki and surrounding areas.
The ASOBIEXPRESS is a uniquely designed bus wrap created as a symbol of connection between Hawaii and Japan through J-POP culture. The wrap design was developed by ASOBISYSTEM, a creative production company that promotes MADE IN JAPAN content to the world.
Operated by JTB Hawaii Travel, HiBus runs five routes centered around Waikiki, covering popular destinations such as Kahala, Diamond Head, Waikiki, Ala Moana, Kakaako, and Downtown. All routes are available with unlimited boarding, providing convenient transportation for sightseeing, shopping, dining, and more across Oahu.
This vehicle began operation on March 12, 2026 (Hawaii Standard Time) and will run for a limited time through late December 2026, offering a new and engaging experience to visitors to Hawaii as well as local residents.
Additionally, on Monday, March 16, 2026, the music and culture event “ASOBIEXPO HAWAII 2026” was held at the Tom Moffatt Waikiki Shell in Honolulu by the ASOBIEXPO HAWAII Organizing Committee, comprised of JTB Hawaii Travel, LLC and ASOBISYSTEM CO., LTD.
Although there were concerns about the weather on the day of the event, it proceeded as scheduled with thorough safety measures in place. The venue was filled with a large number of attendees, and the event concluded with great success.
On the day of the event, performing artists Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, ATARASHII GAKKO!, and FRUITS ZIPPER also boarded the specially wrapped HiBus “ASOBIEXPRESS,” expressing great excitement and admiration for its quality and design.
Comments such as “We are delighted to see the birth of a symbolic presence that embodies Harajuku culture here in Hawaii” were shared, making the occasion a meaningful moment that highlighted the significance of this project.
Through this initiative, we aim to share Japanese pop culture with the world from Hawaii and further contribute to the development of cultural exchange.
